Month-end close with checks before the period locks
VenturusEAM runs seven pre-flight checks before a period closes, covering the period itself, the trial balance, depreciation, GR/IR clearing, receipts, vendor invoices and work orders. Closing posts the month’s depreciation, re-checks the trial balance and GR/IR, locks the period and stores a close packet with every check and override reason.

Seven checks before anything locks
Before a period closes, the system confirms it is open and has ended, the trial balance balances and depreciation is posted or will post first. It then checks GR/IR clearing, receipts waiting too long for inspection, unapproved vendor invoices and work orders completed in the period. A failed check can be overridden only with a written reason, and a failure that leaves no number to accept cannot be overridden at all.
Month-end close with seven pre-flight checks
Before a period closes, seven checks run and show pass, warn or fail with the detail behind each.
Overrides that require a written reason
A failed check can be overridden only with a written reason, and a failure that leaves no number to accept cannot be overridden at all.
One run from depreciation to lock
Closing posts monthly depreciation, re-checks the trial balance and GR/IR, locks the period and saves the close packet, and it stops if the trial balance fails after depreciation. Once locked, every posting path refuses the period, and reopening it needs a reason that goes to the audit log.
Close runs the steps in order
Closing a period posts depreciation, re-checks the trial balance and GR/IR, locks the period and saves the close packet in one run.
Close packet stored with the period
Each closed period keeps a record of the checks as they stood at close, the steps that ran and any override reasons.
Reopen a period with a reason
Reopen a closed period only by giving a reason, which is recorded for audit.
Closed periods refuse postings everywhere
Every posting path checks that its period is open, so nothing lands in a closed month by accident.

VenturusAI
VenturusAI walks a number back to its source
During close, say an asset or journal number and VenturusAI explains the net book value, the capital project it came from and the depreciation posted against it. The controller checks the same chain in the drill-down before relying on it.
How VenturusAI worksAsk "why is the book value what it is" for an asset
Voice narrates the recorded chain from asset to ledger. The controller checks the figures in the drill-down before relying on them.

Common questions
What happens if depreciation has not posted when we close?
Close posts it as its first step. A step already done in an earlier attempt is skipped rather than doubled, and when nothing depreciates the close packet records why.
Can someone post into a closed month?
No. Depreciation, manual journals, capitalization and every other posting path check that the period is open. A date with no fiscal period is refused with a pointer to the fiscal calendar.
Can we reopen a period?
Yes, with a written reason. Reopening without one is refused, and the reason is recorded in the audit log alongside who reopened it and when.
What does the close packet keep?
The checks as they stood at close, the steps that ran and any override reasons. It is viewable later from the period’s close page and is not recomputed.
The plant never stops. Neither does the record.
Bring an asset list and a month of work orders. We will load them and walk through your own plant in VenturusEAM, from the purchase order to the depreciation run.
